Guy C. Wiggins was an American Impressionist painter celebrated for his vibrant depictions of urban landscapes and winter scenes. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Wiggins was the son of prominent landscape artist Carleton Wiggins and grew up immersed in the world of art. He studied architecture at the Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn and later trained as a painter at the National Academy of Design in New York. Influenced by his father and the Impressionist movement, Wiggins developed a style characterized by loose, dynamic brushwork and a masterful use of light and atmosphere. He is best known for his iconic snow-filled cityscapes of New York, capturing bustling streets, iconic landmarks, and the interplay of light and weather in urban environments.

On April 15, 1948, the Black Mountain News reported that Guy Wiggins was in Black Mountain, North Carolina to “sketch the beauties of the Swannanoa Valley in spring.”
