Known as an animalier sculptor, Santa Coloma exhibited at the Salon between 1863-1870, principally showing horses and other equestrian theme figures. Notable among those are Cheal d'attelage (1863), Cavalier espagnol (1864), Cavalier, Lion (1866), Cheval irlandais (1867), and Napoleon II a Solferino (1868).

Nice rich brown patina; lower right hind leg with crack to the lateral side (appears stable); some rubbing to patina in the terrace center and along the uppermost mane; rein on horse's right side with minor separation.
