18th century, well developed and relief carved with intricate shaped back having an intwined pierced back splat, shell carved crest, molded stiles, balloon slip seat, molded seat rail, pierced and carved front seat rail, bold cabriole legs with claw and ball front feet, rear down-swept legs.
48 x 22 x 18 in., seat height 19 in.
One chair retains old paper and ink label to interior of front seat rail appearing to read "Aeudenia 2"
Both chairs with later seats; break and repairs at stile joints; one chair with break and repairs to front and rear right legs; the other chair with small break and repair to upper left corner of back splat and other tight hairline cracks (but stable); both front legs with break and repair at ankles.
