Robertson Kirtland Mygatt was an American landscape painter and etcher associated with the Tonalist movement. Born in New York City, he studied at the Art Students League under John Henry Twachtman and William Merritt Chase, where he honed his skills in capturing atmospheric effects and subtle gradations of light. Mygatt's work is characterized by its serene depictions of nature, often rendered in muted palettes that evoke a contemplative mood. He exhibited at prominent institutions such as the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the National Academy of Design.
