A Chinese Export Armorial Bowl with Cock Family Coat of Arms

Yongzheng period (1723-35), circa 1724, porcelain shallow bowl, hand painted in polychrome enamels with the coat of arms of probably the Cock family quartering Roach impaling Trevor, rim decorated with iron red boards and bundles of treasure motifs to each corner except the top where a cock is perched.

This armorial service was in the possession of the Clarke-Jervoise family for many years and was thus previously recorded as made for the family in Anthony du Boulay's book Chinese Porcelain.
