Second half 19th century, salt glazed, marked two gallon capacity, wide-mouth form with rounded rim, cobalt "EXCELSIOR WORKS / Isaac Hewitt, Jr. / RICES LANDING, PA.", additional decorative and stripe embellishments ( 10 1/4 in.) (glaze flake on the down-turned rim; kiln drips and lower body discoloration), the second is a marked five gallon "EVAN R. JONES PITTSTON, PA" painted with a chicken on a stump (13 1/2 in.) (kiln debris and a rim scape; exfoliation mostly to the lower 1/3 ).
