Venice called to Bunner once again and he lived in “La Serenissima” from 1883 to 1887. Following his death in 1897, his obituary in The Sun noted that his work had been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Paris Salon and the National Academy of Design. Bunner’s works are in numerous collections including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
