Cast bell with clapper, boldly engraved to the obverse "TRITON /1864," mounted within a bronze support stand, presented upon a later walnut base.

Research on the vessel name and date in the UK Shipping and shipbuilding archives lists a British wooden sailing vessel, TRITON, built in 1864 by Hoard Bros. for The Corporation of Trinity House, London, as lighthouse tender. Its size was 97.0 ft length, 18.6 ft breadth, and 9.5 ft depth. and it was fitted with a steam engine in 1870. Subsequent registered owners include: The Whitstable Salvage Co. Ltd. - Thomas H. Small, London, Regd. Faversham (1901); Mgr. Stanley Anderson, Whitstable (1910); Harry M. Grayson & others, Liverpool, Regd. Liverpool (1916); Kymo Shipping Co. Ltd., Liverpool - William B. Kyffin, Birkenhead (1917); Patrick Marmion & others, Birkenhead (1922); John H. Marmion & others, Liverpool (1928). It was decommissioned around 1931.

Some scattered surface nicks to metal; upper support missing screw cover; base molding with some chipping.
