Meiji period (1868-1912), late 19th century, center with ivory ground decorated with applied mother of pearl, coral, shell and enamels, the barbed rim rendered in silver filigree with twelve silver insects with details in translucent enamel, the underside with nashiji maki-e, signed in cartouche to underside 秀明 (Hideaki) on an inlaid mother-of-pearl tablet, raised on three shaped feet.

1 7/8 in., 9 3/4 in. diameter

A similar dish by Hideaki sold on 8.12.2023 at Lempertz, Lot 342.

A few small chips to rim of ivory; some loss to one bird and one cluster of wisteria; some loss to silver inlay on table.
