David Bruce Brown launched his auto racing career at the 1908 Daytona Speed Trials. He won the American Grand Prize in 1910 and 1911, and he competed in the Indianapolis 500 in 1911 and 1912. This photograph was taken at the American Grand Prize Gold Cup race in Savannah, Georgia. Bruce-Brown was the defending champion of this event, having won in 1910 driving a Benz. These were the two major victories for the talented driver who was killed while practicing for the same race in Milwaukee at the age of 25.
Spotting, toning, and staining to the sheet, a few tears, not examined outside the frame.
