Circa 1970-2000, glazed stoneware with ribboning at the neck and wood mounts, signed "Wally Smith" to the undersides, one presented with a woven shade, the other presented with a geometric shade.

From the Collection of Carolyn Ikenberry, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Wally Smith studied pottery at the University of Tennessee. After graduation, Smith began producing a full line of functional work using stoneware. In partnership with Joe Osolnik, Smith opened his first retail gallery, The Potter’s Mark, in 1971 outside Gatlinburg, Tennessee. After a fire in 1988, he moved to Hilton Head Island with his wife, Jean, and together they opened Smith Galleries.
Good estate condition, the shades with toning and staining, both functional at time of inspection.
