Charlie Waterfield learned decoy making as a kid from mentors John Cannon Waterfield, John Williams, and father in-law, Ivey Stevens. He started working at the False Cape Gun Club around 1910. It is probable that this black duck was made there.
Original paint with moderate gunning wear, working repair to neck.
