1920s-1940s, glazed earthenware, the first a large vase with a ring-turned body and three handles emerging from the interior, stamped Rainbow Pottery, Sanford, N.C. to underside (14 1/2 in.); the second, an unusual bottle form with gunmetal glaze, possibly A.R. Cole Pottery, numerous loop handles opposite two flattened sides, unmarked (14 in.); and the third a large glazed earthenware pitcher with an applied side handle, unmarked (20 in.).
Private Collection, Petersburg, Virginia The Rainbow Pottery vase with very light expected glaze crazing, a few minor scratches, some imperfections dating to the making, and chips at the foot; the second with a few small spots of paint, scattered light scratching, a few minor glaze flakes, and foot with sticker residue and some chipping and small losses; the third with a few scratches and one minor chip to body, the roughness along the bottom edge all appears to be in the making.
