Alva Fulcher, the son of William Fulcher, was born in Stacy, North Carolina. In his early years, he hunted commercially but was a fisherman by trade. Alva's avocation was decoy making and duck hunting. He made most of his decoys after his son was born in 1926.

Original paint worn to bare wood in places, minor insect damage on bottom left side of tail.
