Eleanor Thompson's 1856 Wool Sampler

Wool thread on loosely woven linen, multicolored alphanumeric bands above a row of family initials and signed "Eleanor Thompson aged / 12 years. 1856." the lower half filled with detached motifs such as dancing figures, a castle, and a flower seller, appears to be tacked to a board within a wood frame with upper center hanging ring, under glass.

Frame dimensions 17.75 x 17.5 in.
