From the Prominent Contemporary Art Collection of Pamela K. And William A. Royall Jr., Richmond, Virginia The American artist known as "Stainless" is Michael Kalish, a contemporary sculptor and artist renowned for his large-scale works made from stainless steel and other metals. Kalish initially gained recognition for his use of license plates and other repurposed materials to create striking, multidimensional artworks that often explore themes of Americana, pop culture, and nostalgia.
His alias, "Stainless," reflects his mastery of working with stainless steel to craft intricate and innovative sculptures. One of his most iconic projects is reALIze (2011), a monumental tribute to Muhammad Ali, created using 1,300 punching bags, steel, and aluminum, arranged in a way that reveals the legendary boxer's face from a distance. Kalish's work has been exhibited internationally, earning acclaim for its fusion of industrial materials with thought-provoking artistic expression.
Good estate condition, some antique flaws, and repair to the painting and frame, visible assemblage glue.
