Luis González Palma, Jackson Fine Art, Atlanta, Georgia, 2001-2002.

Luis González Palma was born in Guatemala, and he is one of the most well-known living photographers from Latin America. He first trained as an architect, and he hopes his viewers experience a spatial connection with his photographs. He frequently pictures indigenous people of Guatemala dressed in traditional clothing and staring vacantly towards the viewer. In keeping with his Catholic education and Guatemalan heritage, he also incorporates Catholic iconography. González Palma says that he wants his images to stay with viewers long after they've seen the pictures, and that the photographs will affect them in small but meaningful ways as they carry on with with their lives.

González Palma's work is present in significant collections worldwide, including the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museo de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires; the Museum für Fotografie, Berlin; the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; and others.
