Second half 18th century, France or Britain, tortoiseshell or horn hinged lidded case with gold, silver, and mother of pearl pique work, the lid featuring grapevine basket within a studded ground with bellflower border, the interior divided with two lidded compartments (one to hold rouge and the other for black taffeta patches), and a larger compartment (to hold a small brush and mirror), unsigned.

1 x 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 in.

Crack to front lid corner and along back lid panel, otherwise good condition.
