Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Ocracoke, North Carolina, circa 1920, carved and painted wood.

Length 15.25 in.

Very little has been written about Luther Fulcher. He was the brother of Ben Fulcher and was once considered the finest carver on Ocracoke Island. He reportedly worked for Bill Gaskill in the Beacon Island operation with his brother. The majority of his decoys were lost in a fire. This example has a wonderful swimming posture.

Second coat of gunning paint, some minor paint loss on the back.
