Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Circa 1815, watercolor on ivory, presumably a couple, the blue-eyed female and male attired in regency finery, rendered against atmospheric stormy skies, presented behind glass in matched gilt pendant cases with chased borders and hanger, the male retaining woven hairwork on a period playing card.
Female case 3 1/2 x 2 3/8 in.; Male case 3 1/4 x 2 1/4 in.
From a Private Collection, Washington, D.C. Some wear to cases; the reverse glass on both is now missing; some losses to hairwork; female case once also likely had hairwork now missing; some edge loss to female wafer.
