Wako Shuji (Japanese, b. 1953), Three Lithographs

Includes three lithographs, the first, pencil signed to lower margin "14/60, Folded Crane (Wisteria), ShWako," presented under glass with gold lined mat in a gold frame (Frame dimensions 19 1/2 x 22 in., Sight size 13 x 15 in.), and two smaller artworks, framed in identical manner under glass with gold lined mat in gold frames (Frame dimensions 23 1/2 x 19 in., Sight size 16 x 12 1/4 in.), all framed by Kato in Japan.

Born in Sendai in 1953, Wako Shuji graduated from Zokei University in Tokyo in 1977. Renowned for his expertise in lithograph prints, Shuji focuses on Japanese-related small objects, presenting them with a captivating blend of photo-realistic precision and meticulous excellence, often set against a backdrop of deep black or rich blue. This unwavering pursuit of perfection, a characteristic trait often associated with Japanese artistry, is evident in Wako Shuji's creations. Shuji employs a vibrant palette, with strong and vivid colors dominating the foreground, while occasionally employing optical illusions that engage and intrigue the viewer.
