Crowell was a renowned American decoy carver from Massachusetts, best known for his highly detailed and expertly crafted duck decoys. Active in the early to mid-20th century, Crowell’s work gained widespread recognition for its realism and artistic quality. His decoys, particularly those of ducks and shorebirds, are highly prized by collectors and are considered some of the finest examples of American folk art. Made for the Nickerson family on Cape Cod.
Original paint with moderate gunning wear, large age check down the back, hole in the breast continues at a diagonal.
