Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Hyde County, North Carolina, early 20th century, one gallon tin can.

Height 7.5

Established generations ago, the company operates from a historic two-story building overlooking Rose Bay and its surrounding salt marshes. In the 19th century, Rose Bay oysters were celebrated for their abundance and flavor, but by the 1970s, factors like over-harvesting and environmental changes had severely depleted the oyster population. Today, the Rose Bay Oyster Company remains the last oyster shucking house on Pamlico Sound and its tributaries, continuing to process both local and Gulf Coast oysters. This example is marked C.B. Jennette, Swan Quarter, NC.

Original, scuffing and small dents from use.
