Chincoteague, Virginia, circa 2000, carved and painted wood, glass eyes, signed in pen DELBERT "CIGAR" DAISEY / FEMALE RUDDY / HUNTING DECOY and branded CIGAR on bottom.
Length 9.5 in.
Cigar was given his nickname by a game warden when he lost some cigars while stealing ducks from the warden's trap. Daisey and his stories are of folk legend. His life and decoys have been memorialized in a book by Doily Fulcher.
