Two Antique Canes with Gold-Filled and Engraved Handles

19th century, each with an ebonized shaft topped with an ornate engraved handle and terminating in a brass ferrule at the base; the earlier cane's handle is engraved John Peak From His Children Jan. 1. 1861 with the second cane engraved with Jos. Love / Dec. 25 '99.

The 1861 cane has minor marks on the shaft and a somewhat loose handle that could be reinforced with paper or thin cloth; the 1899 cane has subtle finish losses along most of the shaft and also has a loose handle.
