Retailed by Ball, Black & Co. of New York, circa 1858-1860, 950 silver standard, tapered cylindrical form based on New York tankards of the 18th century, the hinged cover with spiral twist thumb piece, the cast and applied "S" curve handle features a beaded "spine" and terminates in a finely detailed cherub's head bask, the body of each with period monogram "W.R." beneath a griffin's head.
